Why wear your faith?

Some of you may ask, why wear Christian clothing? If I know in my heart that I am a Christian do I need to show it outwardly with my clothing? I have asked myself the same question. The more I have thought about it, the more I thought – yes!

Think about it – our generation uses our clothing as media more than any other generation before us. I’ve even heard us called “generation T” because we wear so many t-shirts. Most of our t-shirts send a message about who we are, what we like and what we participate in. So why not show your commitment to your faith in the same manner.

There is so much joy in our faith! Sometimes this is hidden by the press who seem to want to focus on the negative. It’s up to us to show the true spirit of being a Christian. Galations 5:22-23 says it best:

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Some things to think about (I know this is annoying but unfortunately – it is real): As Christian’s our daily life should be a continual expression of our faith by the way in which our life is lived. We already glorify God through praise, prayer and acts of service so why not continue that by the way we dress. Just to be clear – I don’t mean to get in everyone’s face. But we need to be proud of who are we are and not be afraid to share it. Someone one might like your shirt and ask you about it – this can give you the opportunity to invite them to church or FCA meeting.
